How the hardware market will develop in 2023

The year 2022 saw a lot of interesting things in the world of computer hardware. NVIDIA, AMD, Intel have pleased us with improved chips and expansion of popular video card lines. Now let's find out what to expect in 2023.

Intel

The company has already presented a list of new products, which will appear in the new year. Already in January, mass production of Raptor Lake chips will start. You will be able to get acquainted with these devices in the coming days at the CES2023 exhibition.

It is planned to rework the Core i7 and Core i9 structure. Relative to previous versions, the processors will get an increased number of small cores. The identical changes should also affect the Core i5.

Also at the beginning of the year there will be new motherboards H770 and B760. They will get all the top interfaces - PCI-E 4.0, PCI-E 5.0, NVMe, fully adapted for new Intel processors.

At the end of the year there will be traditionally a new generation of processors from Intel, called Meteor Lake. There is not much information yet, but it is expected to increase the number of large and small cores. Their main feature, the simultaneous use of multiple chips on one substrate. At the same processor size will remain unchanged.

It is expected the appearance of discrete graphics cards, with even more impressive capabilities. However, all at the level of rumors. Many insiders are reporting that Intel may postpone their launch to 2024.

AMD

While the Ryzen 7000 processor appears in late 2022, the rest of the series will be introduced at CES. Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 9 7900 are largely identical to the "X" series chips. The difference is only in clock speed and power consumption. However, more importantly, the price of new models will be somewhat lower than the processors marked "X". These new products will be available at the end of January.

One more processor, which is going to be available this year - it is Ryzen 7000 with 3D V-Cache. Immediately expected to go on sale variants with 6-8 cores. In the subsequent range will be complemented by more advanced versions. Generally all new processors promise significant performance increase.

There will be a budget chipset A620 for AM5 socket. Unfortunately, there are no exact specifications, only guesses and speculations. What we can say for sure is that the chipset will not have a PCI-E 5.0 interface.

The appearance of Zen 4 for laptops is expected. On this background there will be a sharp increase in performance. However, you need to be extremely careful when choosing a laptop on the Ryzen 7000 processor. Not all chips will be made on the architecture of the fourth generation.

Traditionally the top AMD graphics cards are rolled out at the end of the year. But in the beginning of 2023 there will be a number of other graphics cards based on the new graphics chips - Navi 31, Navi 32, Navi 33.

NVIDIA

At NVIDIA everything is simple. At the beginning of the year users will be able to get acquainted with the third Ada Lovelace chip for the RTX4070 Ti graphics card. Although there will be nothing new here. In fact we have RTX4080 with 12 GB memory, the release of which was previously canceled. Its capabilities are close to the RTX3090, beating it by 5-10% on average, also the presence of DLSS 3 technology allows you to go a little ahead.

This year there will be two more graphics cards RTX4060 and RTX4050 based on the new processor. Although the timing of their appearance on the market remains a mystery. According to experts, we should not expect them before the end of the middle.

Apple

The main trend in Apple for 2023 is the M2 chip. The first devices with it appeared last year. Relative to the previous version of the chip, there is a significant increase in performance.

For the first months of 2023, even more powerful versions of the M2 processor will appear - Pro, Max, Ultra. They will be used in MacBook Pro notebooks. It is expected to increase performance and reduce power consumption. We also note the support of high-speed memory LPDDR5X in the M2.

Apple's top-of-the-line mobile SoC will not appear until the second half of the year. It is planned that the structure on the A17 Bionic will be assembled on a 3 nm process. This technical solution makes it possible to increase productivity, reduce power consumption and increase the amount of RAM. The new chip will receive only the iPhone 15 Pro and Max. The other models will do with the previous version of the processor. There is nothing surprising in this, the company has long adhered to such a strategy to attract additional attention to its products.

Qualcomm and Mediatek

The leading chip makers for Android smartphones have some interesting new products planned. Qualcomm continues to focus on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Many well-known smartphone manufacturers have gathered to use this chip in their smartphones.

Among the new products we should expect a continuation of the Snapdragon 7 line. The final characteristics have not yet been advertised. All at the level of rumors and speculation. One thing is certain, the emphasis is on reducing power consumption.

Mediatek does not lag behind its competitor and at the end of last year introduced its flagship chip. The top-of-the-line processor Dimensity 9200 is almost as good as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It has decent characteristics and has already attracted the interest of Chinese brands. Already in the near future we should expect the appearance of Chinese smartphones with Dimensity 9200.

Conclusion

Each manufacturer will try to surprise its fans with various novelties and interesting solutions. It remains only to wait for official information and various leaks from insiders. They are the ones that bring a special zest to the process of waiting for the top hardware.
